My architectural focus is centered on sustainable design, integrating architectural and urban strategies that promote environmental and social well-being. With a background in architecture from the Universidad de Cuenca and master's degrees in Human Settlements from KU Leuven, Belgium, and Architectural Projects from Universidad de Cuenca, I have developed expertise in designing sustainable spaces.My professional experience includes contributing to urban projects such as Tú También Construyes Cuenca and Proximity of Care 2022. Currently, I am a professor and researcher at Universidad Ikiam, where I serve as Co-Director of the Sustainable Design Laboratory for Habitable Spaces and Head of the Urban and Sustainable Architectural Design Discipline in the Sustainable Architecture program.

Johana Mendoza is an Ecuadorian architect and interdisciplinary designer whose work navigates architecture through drawing, visual storytelling, and spatial exploration. She is currently an architectural designer at Olson Kundig in Seattle, contributing to complex international projects that integrate craft, performance, and environmental sensitivity. Educated at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, Johana is a licensed architect and AIA International Associate. Her work has been acknowledged through numerous international distinctions, including awards and finalist selections in global architecture and illustration competitions. Her architectural illustrations developed through a hybrid process of hand drawing, watercolor, and digital techniques have been featured by internationally respected platforms. Johana actively contributes to the global architecture community as a jury member for international competitions, where she supports emerging designers and promotes innovative, culturally grounded approaches to architecture and representation.
